Most Common Challenges With Growing Your Online Business

Recently I’ve asked my email subscribers and social media followers for some feedback on what they needed help with, and what challenges they have with growing a successful business online. Here’s what I’ve found out.

I wanted to share with you a summary of results for 2 reasons.

Firstly, the findings of the survey will inform my content creation planning for the next 6 months or so until winter 2016/2017.

In January I do a big round of business planning for the year ahead so I’m likely to then review the positioning and what I’m talking about and sharing.

What it means for you?

If the topics below don’t resonate with you at all and are not something YOU want to learn and implement in the next 6 months for your business, it’s totally ok for you to unfollow and unsubscribe.

I value your time and I’d love for you to be getting RESULTS through what I’m sharing with you.

And if your business focus is on, say, speaking, or live-streaming, or offline networking, or affiliates – then I’m unlikely to give you much valuable information and strategic insights in this moment.

Secondly, if you find that the survey results resonate with you, that you are struggling with similar issues – know you are not alone.

It’s often easy to lose perspective online with everyone sharing glitz and glamour photos of their laptop lifestyle. Or perfect green smoothies while earning $10K per day. Or how awesome their life and business is with being featured everywhere, or having a zillion of followers.

So you might feel like you are failing. Because your business doesn’t have any of that (yet!). Because you aren’t that sought-out expert everyone wants to talk to (yet!).

Well… you are not alone!

We, collectively as business owners, don’t talk much about darker days, or failures, or own insecurities. But trust me – we all feel it.

Hence the results of the survey point to those key themes thousands of my subscribers and followers said they need help with!

50% of my subscribers sell 1-2-1 coaching, consulting and services. And with adding in group coaching and other information product sales it adds up to 76%.

My content is therefore targeted to those who fall into these categories. If you sell something else or don’t have an online business all together, I can still help you (as marketing principles are pretty universal). It just means you are likely to need to work with me 1-2-1 to get the most tailored advice for your particular situation.

Only 12% of my subscribers are satisfied with their sales results.

So 88% of you are struggling to meet your financial goals and get ENOUGH leads and customers. This will be one of the key themes in the months to come – how to get more leads and customers for your business, without spending all your days doing marketing and becoming a tech whizz yourself!

Currently I can already offer you VMA Insider membership, and other information products from my Shop. This will help you get started before you are ready to invest at a higher level in 1-2-1 support, coaching and done-for-you marketing services.

Funnels are getting more popular, but it doesn’t mean they are working as they should (yet!).

Although 41% of respondents said they have a marketing and sales funnel in place for their business, combining this with the responses about sales/income level we can see that these funnels aren’t always working as well as you’d have hoped.

On the other hand, 30% didn’t know about funnels at all. Clearly there is work for me to be done here to educate you on the value of having the right funnel for your business, and how to get it to work properly!

Not surprisingly, these “what would you like to learn the MOST about” topics were winners!

The survey had a list of options of what you’d like to learn the most about from me. And the winners are…

  • How to create content to attract your perfect audience
  • How to build a marketing funnel to sell more products/services (this product is the perfect match!)
  • How to build a system to create consistent revenue (that’s a FUNNEL… see above!)
  • How to grow email list (my recommendation – Facebook Ads, and here’s a training to help)
